Bholenath ko Ketaki ka Phool Kyo Nahi Chadaya Jata
Bhagwan Bholenath ko kuchh cheejen kabhi bhi pradan nahin ki jati hain, jaise ki laal phool Shivling par nahin chadhaye jate hain. Bhagwan Shiv par hamesha safed phool arpit kiye jate hain. Lekin ketheki ke phool safed hone ke bawajood Shivling par arpit nahin kiye jate hain. Iska maanna jata hai ki agar galti se bhi Bhagwan Shiv par ketheki ke phool chadhaye jate hain, to uska nuksan jald hi dikhai dene lagta hai, aur ketheki ke phoolon ko Shivling par chadhane wale ko hani hoti hai, saath hi uske ghar mein dukh aur daridrata ka vas ho jata hai. Ketheki ke phoolon ko Shivling par na chadhane ke peeche ek katha bhi hai, chaliye iske baare mein jaante hain.
Yeh kahani hai ki ek baar Brahma Ji aur Bhagwan Vishnu ke beech ek vivaad hua. Vivaad ka mukhya vishay tha ki dono mein se kaun shreshth hai. Dono apne aap ko shreshth maante the, ek or Brahma Ji svayam ko srishti ke rachanakaar hone ke karan shreshth maante the, jabki doosri or saari srishti ke palanhaar Bhagwan Vishnu svayam ko shreshth maante the. Is vivad ke beech, bahut din tak dono ke beech takraar jaari rahi, lekin uska koi samadhan nahi nikla, kyunki unme se koi bhi doosre ko shreshth maanne ko taiyaar nahi tha. Vivaad ki gahraai badhte dekhkar Bhagwan Shiv vahan prakat hue aur Shivling ke roop mein prastut hue. Bhagwan Vishnu aur Brahma Ji ne tay kiya ki ve vipreet disha mein jaayenge aur Shivling ke ant ki khoj karenge. Jo bhi Shivling ke ant tak pahunchega, wahi shreshth maana jayega.
Dono turant Shivling ke ant ki khoj karne nikale, aur apne athak prayas ke bawajood, Bhagwan Vishnu ant ko nahi pa sake. Ve phir se Bhagwan Shiv ke paas lautे, aur Bhagwan Shiv ne dono ke vivaad ka koi nishkarsh nahi nikal sakte. Fir, Bhagwan Vishnu ne kaha ki maine apne athak prayas ke bawajood Shivling ke ant ko nahi dhoondh saka. Yakin na aaya to ketheki ke vriksh se hi poochh lo, ye sun kar ketheki ke vriksh ne bhi Brahma Ji ke paksh mein jhoothi gawahii di. Iske baad, Bhagwan Shiv apne roop mein wapas aaye aur krodh ke maare unhone Brahma Ji ke sir ko kaat diya, saath hi ketheki ke vriksh ko shraap diya ki uske vriksh se utpann phool kabhi bhi Shivling par svikary nahi hoga. Agar koi bhi aisa karta hai, to usse bura parinam bhugatna hoga, aur uska saara punya nasht ho jayega.

भोलेनाथ को केतकी का फूल क्यों नहीं चढ़ाया जाता
भगवान् भोलेनाथ को कई वस्तुएं नहीं चढ़ाई जाती, जैसे कि लाल पुष्प शिवलिंग पर नहीं चढ़ाए जाते हैं। भगवान् शिव पर हमेशा ही सफेद पुष्प अर्पित किए जाते हैं। परंतु केतकी के पुष्प सफेद होने के बावजूद शिवलिंग पर अर्पित नहीं किए जाते। ऐसा माना जाता है कि अगर गलती से भी भगवान् शिव पर केतकी के फूल चढ़ाए जाते हैं, तो उसका दुष्परिणाम जल्द ही देखने को मिलता है, और केतकी के फूलों को शिवलिंग पर चढ़ाने वाले का हानि होता है, साथ ही उसके घर में दुख और दरिद्रता का वास हो जाता है। केतकी के फूलों को शिवलिंग पर न चढ़ाने के पीछे भी एक कथा है, आइए जानते हैं इसके बारे में।
एक बार की बात है, ब्रह्मा जी और भगवान् विष्णु के बीच एक विवाद हुआ। विवाद का मुख्य विषय था कि दोनों में से कौन श्रेष्ठ है। दोनों ही अपने को श्रेष्ठ मानते थे, एक ओर ब्रह्मा जी स्वयं को सृष्टि के रचनाकार होने की वजह से श्रेष्ठ मानते थे, वहीं दूसरी ओर सारी सृष्टि के पालनहार भगवान् विष्णु स्वयं को श्रेष्ठ मानते थे। बहुत देर तक दोनों में वाद-विवाद चलता रहा, परंतु उनके विवाद का कोई निष्कर्ष नहीं निकला, दोनों में से कोई भी दूसरे को श्रेष्ठ मानने को तैयार नहीं था।
विवाद बढ़ता देखकर भगवान् शिव वहां प्रकट हुए और शिवलिंग का रूप धारण किया। भगवान् विष्णु और ब्रह्मा जी ने आपस में निश्चय किया कि दोनों विपरीत दिशा में जाएंगे और शिवलिंग के छोर की तलाश करेंगे। जो भी शिवलिंग के छोर तक पहले पहुंचेगा, वही श्रेष्ठ होगा। दोनों तय किया कि उन्होंने शिवलिंग के छोर की तलाश में निकलेंगे और अपने अथक प्रयास करने के बावजूद भगवान् विष्णु शिवलिंग के छोर को नहीं ढूंढ़ पाएं, तो वे वापस आ गए। इसी बीच, ब्रह्मा जी भी शिवलिंग के छोर की खोज में निष्फल रहे और वापस आ गए। जब भगवान् विष्णु और ब्रह्मा जी का आमना-सामना हुआ, तो भगवान् विष्णु ने कहा कि मैं अपने अथक प्रयास के बावजूद शिवलिंग के छोर को नहीं ढूंढ़ सका। इस पर ब्रह्मा जी ने वैमनस्यता का आकलन किया और उन्होंने भगवान् विष्णु के प्रति झूठ कह दिया कि मैंने शिवलिंग के छोर को ढूंढ़ लिया है, और केतकी के वृक्ष इसका साक्षी है।
यकीन न आया तो केतकी के वृक्ष से ही पूछ लो, ये सुनकर केतकी के वृक्ष ने भी ब्रह्मा जी के पक्ष में झूठी गवाही दी। इसके बाद, भगवान् शिव अपने रूप में वापस आ गए और क्रोध के मारे उन्होंने ब्रह्मा जी के सिर को काट दिया, साथ ही केतकी के वृक्ष को श्राप दिया कि उसके वृक्ष से उत्पन्न पुष्प कभी भी शिवलिंग पर स्वीकार्य नहीं होगा। अगर कोई भी ऐसा करता है, तो उसे बुरा परिणाम झेलना होगा, और उसका सारा पुण्य नष्ट हो जाएगा।

There is also a story behind not offering Ketaki flowers on the Shiva Lingam. Once, there was a dispute between Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. The main topic of the dispute was who among them is superior. Both claimed themselves to be superior. On one hand, Brahma considered himself superior due to being the creator of the universe, while on the other hand, Vishnu claimed superiority as the sustainer of all of creation. The dispute continued for a long time, but there was no resolution to it, as neither of them was willing to consider the other as superior. Seeing the dispute intensify, Lord Shiva appeared and took the form of the Shiva Lingam. Lord Vishnu and Brahma decided that they would go in opposite directions in search of the end of the Shiva Lingam. Whoever reaches the end of the Shiva Lingam first would be considered superior.
Both of them immediately set out in search of the end of the Shiva Lingam, and despite their tireless efforts, Lord Vishnu could not find the end. He returned to Lord Shiva and admitted that he could not find it. Similarly, Lord Brahma was unsuccessful in his search and returned. When Lord Vishnu and Brahma met again, Vishnu stated that despite his tireless efforts, he could not find the end of the Shiva Lingam. Upon hearing this, Lord Brahma falsely claimed that he had found the end of the Lingam and presented Ketaki flowers as proof.
Lord Shiva, aware of the falsehood, was infuriated and in his anger, he severed one of Lord Brahma’s heads. He also cursed the Ketaki tree that its flowers would never be accepted on the Shiva Lingam. Anyone who did so would face dire consequences, and the one offering the Ketaki flowers would be held responsible, with their merits being nullified. This story illustrates the significance of Lord Shiva’s devotion and the consequences of falsehood and ego in divine matters.
