Narad Muni ne ek baar Bhagwan Vishnu ke darshan ki ichha vyakt ki. Tab Narad Muni ne Swarg se Vaikunth jaakar Bhagwan Vishnu ko darshan kiye. Bhagwan Vishnu ke haath mein shankh, chakra, gada, aur kamal the, jo bahut sundar dikh rahe the. Us samay Bhagwan Vishnu aur unki ardhangini Lakshmi Mata ek saath haas vilas kar rahe the. Lakshmi Mata ne dekha ki Narad Muni aaye hain, toh woh wahan se uthkar chali gayi.
Mata Lakshmi ko jaate dekh Narad Muni ne Bhagwan Vishnu se poocha ki Devi Lakshmi mujhe dekhkar bhavan mein is tarah kyun chali gayi? Main koi neech vyakti nahi hoon; meri saari indriyan mere niyantran mein hain. Main kabhi kisi ko bura nahi dekhta, toh phir Mata Lakshmi bhavan mein kyun gayi? Bhagwan Vishnu ne Narad ki baat sunkar kaha ki devrishi, Maya ko jeetna bahut kathin hai. Sanak jaise munio ke liye bhi is Maya ko jeetna asambhav hai. Fir Narad aur doosre munio ki sankhya kya hai? Maya manushya ki buddhi ko har sakti hai. Isliye Mata Lakshmi uthkar bhavan mein chali gayi.
Devrishi Narad ne kaha, Prabhu maine Maya ko jeet liya hai, Maya mujh par koi prabhav nahi daal sakti. Main sada hi sadachar aur naitikta ka palan karta hoon. Devrishi Narad ki baatein sunkar Bhagwan Vishnu muskurakar keh rahe the, Narad tum yeh baat kisi ke saamne bhi nahi kehna. Kyunki Maya ko jeetna kathin hai, isliye woh sada praniyon ko bhram mein daalti rahti hai. Kaam, krodh, mad, moh, matsar, aur lobh iske hi roop hain, itna kehkar Bhagwan Vishnu chup ho gaye. Tab Devrishi Narad ne Prabhu se kaha ki main aapki is Maya ko dekhna chahta hoon. Yadi aap mujh par prasann hain, toh kripaya mujhe apni is Maya ka vastavik roop dikhaiye. Kyunki ise dekhne aur jaanne ki utsukata mere man mein utpann ho gayi hai. Isiliye aap us Maya ko dikhaakar, samjhaakar mere man ko shaant kijiye.
Narad ki yeh vinati sunkar Bhagwan Vishnu keh rahe hain ki Narad, Maya toh sarvavyaapi hai. Woh sabhi jeevon mein rehti hai aur trigunaatmak hai. Yadi tum use dekhna chahte ho, toh mere Garud par sawaar ho jaao aur chalo. Main tumhe meri Maya ke darshan karata hoon. Tab Bhagwan Vishnu swyam apne Garud par baith gaye, aur Narad bhi unke peeche baith gaya. Bhagwan Vishnu se aadesh milte hi Garud ne udan shuru kar di aur jis disha mein woh dikhate the, usi disha mein chale gaye. Bhagwan Vishnu ne Narad ji ke saath Kanyakubj mein kai vanon, nadiyon, parvaton, nagaron, chhote-chhote gaavon aur janglon mein ghoom rahe jeevon ko dekha.
Bhagwan Vishnu aur Narad Kanyakubj mein ek bade sundar sarovar ke paas gaye. Dono Garud se utarkar sarovar ke paas chalne lage. Kuch samay baad Bhagwan Vishnu ne Narad ko kaha ki ve abhi sarovar mein jakar snan karein. Bhagwan Vishnu ne kaha toh Narad ne apni veena unke paas rakhkar sarovar mein gaye aur snan karne lage. Snan karte hue unhone dekha ki unka sharir ek stri ka ban gaya hai. Dur khade Bhagwan Vishnu ne Narad ko dekha toh muskuraye, stri banne ke baad Narad ki apni poorv smriti bhi chali gayi. Tab Bhagwan Vishnu ne Narad ko veena lekar wahan se Garud par baithakar chale gaye.
Stri bane Narad jheel ke kinare baith gaye aur vichar lagaaye kyun ki uski yaad-dasht chali gayi thi. “Main kaun hoon, ab mujhe kya karna chahiye, kahan jana chahiye,” sochti rahi stri roop mein Narad. Isi samay Taladhvaj naam ka raja apni sena ke saath jheel ke tat par aa gaya. Jab Taladhvaj ne Narad ko ek atyant sundar aur akarshak stri ke roop mein dekha, toh puchha, “Devi, aap kaun hain, aapke mata-pita kaun hain, aapka pati kaun hai aur aap yahan kya kar rahi hain?” Taladhvaj ki baatein sunkar Narad ne stri roop mein kaha, “Mujhe nahi pata main kaun hoon, main kahan se aayi hoon aur abhi mere koi rakshak nahi hai.” Tab Taladhvaj ne kaha, “Devi, aap mere saath mere mahal chaliye, main aap par mohit ho gaya hoon aur main aapko apni patni ki tarah chahta hoon.” Stri ban gaye Narad ne is prastav ko svikar kiya, Taladhvaj ke mahal jane ke liye taiyar ho gayi.
Taladhvaj ne Narad ko apne mahal mein bulaya aur unke saath shubh muhurat mein shaadi kar li. Uske baad, Taladhvaj aur Narad dono mahila roop mein alag-alag jagahon par ghoomte the aur saath mein samay bitate the. Toh 12 saal baad Narad ke garbh se ek beta paida hua. Dekh kar, Narad, jo ab stri roopdhari the, bahut khush hue. Ab unhone apna samay apne bete ke palan-poshan mein lagaya. Is tarah Narad ne kai varshon mein baraah putron ko janm diya. Ek din Taladhvaj ke rajya par ek padosi raja ne akraman kiya. Tab Narad ke putra aur pautra, mahila roop mein, yudh karne gaye. Iss yudh mein Devrishi Narad ke saare putra aur pautra mare gaye. Tab Narad stri roop mein yudh bhoomi mein gaye aur apne putron ke viyog mein vilap karne lage. Raja Taladhvaj bhi unke saath tha aur dono hi dukhi the. Maya ke prabhav mein aakar apni asli pehchaan bhool gaye Narad ne apne putron ke swargwas par shok vyakt kiya.
Jab Bhagwan Vishnu ne stri roop mein Narad ko yudh bhoomi mein rote hue dekha, toh ve Brahman roop mein aaye aur unhe sambhalne lage. ‘Devi, tum ro kyun rahi ho? Is sansar mein har koi marta hai, isliye dukhi mat ho. Is sansar mein koi kisi ka putra nahi hai, koi kisi ka pitaa nahi hai, koi kisi ki mata nahi hai. Ye sab rishte bhram hai. Tum inka antim sanskar karo aur unki aatma ko dukh se mukt karo,’ kaha Lord Vishnu ne. Lord Vishnu ke is Brahman roop ki baat ko maan kar Narad aur Taladhvaj ne apne putron aur pautron ke liye antim sanskar kiye.
Phir Lord Vishnu, ab bhi Brahman roop mein, unhe ek pavitra sarovar le gaye. Wahaan ek bada sarovar tha. Vishnu ne Narad se kaha, ‘Devi, ab is sarovar mein snan karo aur apne putron aur pautron ki aatma ki shaanti ke liye prarthana karo.’ Vishnu, Brahman roop mein, aage bole, ‘Tumhein pata nahi tumhare kitne janmon ke ho chuke hain. In laakhon janmon mein tumhare laakhon pati, laakhon bete aur laakhon betiyan hogi. Aaj tum sabki yaad nahi rakh sakti, isliye apna dukh chhodo aur apna kartavya poora karo.’
Vishnu ke Brahman roop ki baat ka palan karte hue Narad, stri roop mein, ne sarovar mein snan aur pooja ki. Mahila roop mein hokar Narad ne sarovar mein gote lagaya aur jagte hi swayam ko purush roop mein paaya. Unki yaad-dasht dheere-dheere laut rahi thi. Sarovar se bahar aakar Narad ne Lord Vishnu ko dekha aur wahaan bahut prasann hue.
Raja Taladhvaj ne sarovar ke paas apni patni ki jagah ek purush ko dekha aur Bhagwan Vishnu se poocha, ‘Meri patni kahaan chali gayi?’ Vishnu ne jawab diya, ‘Taladhvaj, is sansar mein koi kisi ka nahi hai. Jab woh, mahila roop mein, tumhein sarovar ke paas mili toh usne tumse rishte tod liye. Usko bhool jao aur apna dhyan Bhagwan par karo.’ Lord Vishnu ke shabd maan kar Taladhvaj ne apne rajya ko chhod diya aur van mein chale gaye.
Muskaan ke saath, Lord Vishnu ne purush roop mein sarovar se baahar aakar kaha, ‘Narad, ab tumne meri maya dekhi hai. Tumhein yeh realise ho gaya hai ki meri maya kitni prabal hai. Ab mujhe vishwaas ho gaya hai ki tumhare mann mein maya ko dekhne ki ichha poori ho gayi hai. Ab main Vaikuntha ja raha hoon. Tum mere saath aa sakte ho ya apni ichha ke mutabiq kahin aur ja sakte ho.’ Narad ne kaha, ‘Prabhu, aapne mujhe apni maya dikhayi hai, iske liye main aabhaarit hoon. Is samay main Brahmaloka jaana chahta hoon.’ Lord Vishnu Vaikuntha gaye aur Narad Brahmaloka gaye. Is tarah Lord Vishnu ne Narad ko mahila banakar use maya ke shakti ko dekhne ka avsar diya.

भगवान विष्णु की माया में कैसे फंसे नारद जी
नारद मुनि ने एक बार भगवान विष्णु के दर्शन की इच्छा व्यक्त की। तब नारद मुनि ने स्वर्ग से वैकुंठ जाकर भगवान विष्णु को दर्शन किये। भगवान विष्णु के हाथों में शंख, चक्र, गदा और कमल थे, जो बहुत सुंदर लग रहे थे। उस समय भगवान विष्णु और उनकी अर्धांगिनी लक्ष्मी माता एक साथ हास विलास कर रहे थे। तभी देवी लक्ष्मी ने नारद मुनि को आते देखा तो वह वहाँ से उठकर चली गई।
ऐसे माता लक्ष्मी को जाते देख नारद मुनि ने भगवान विष्णु से पूछा कि देवी लक्ष्मी मुझे देखकर भवन में इस तरह क्यों चली गई? मैं कोई नीच व्यक्ति नहीं हूँ; मेरी सारी इंद्रियाँ मेरे नियंत्रण में हैं। मैं कभी किसी को बुरा नहीं देखता, तो फिर मां लक्ष्मी भवन में क्यों गई? भगवान विष्णु ने नारद की बात सुनकर कहा कि देवर्षि माया को जितना बहुत कठिन है। सनक जैसे मुनियो के लिए भी इस माया को जीतना असंभव है। फिर नारद और दूसरे मुनियों की संख्या क्या है? माया मनुष्य की बुद्धि को हर सकती है। इसलिए माता लक्ष्मी उठकर भवन में चली गई।
देवर्षि नारद ने कहा, प्रभु मैंने माया को जीत लिया है, देवर्षि नारद ने कहा माया मुझ पर कोई प्रभाव नहीं डाल सकती । मैं सदा ही सदाचार और नैतिकता का पालन करता हूं । देवर्षि नारद की बातें सुनकर भगवान विष्णु भगवान विष्णु ने मुस्कुराकर कहा, नारद तुम यह बात किसी के सामने भी नहीं कहना । क्योंकि माया को जीतना कठिन है , इसलिए वह सदा प्राणियों को भ्रम में डालती रहती है। काम, क्रोध, मद, मोह, मत्सर और लोभ इसके ही रूप है, इतना कहकर भगवान विष्णु चुप हो गए । तब देवर्षि नारद ने प्रभु से कहा कि मैं आपकी इस माया को देखना चाहता हूँ। यदि आप मुझ पर प्रसन्न हैं तो ,कृपया मुझे अपनी इस माया का वास्तविक रूप दिखाइए । क्योंकि इसे देखने और जानने की उत्सुकता मेरे मन में उत्पन्न हो गई है । इसीलिए आप उस माया को दिखा कर, समझा कर मेरे मन को शांत कीजिए ।
नारद की यह विनती सुनकर भगवान विष्णु कहते हैं कि नारद माया तो सर्वव्यापी है। वह सभी जीवों में रहती है और त्रिगुणात्मक है। यदि आप उसे देखना चाहते हैं, तो मेरे गरुड पर सवार हो जाओ और चलो। मैं तुम्हें मेरी माया के दर्शन कराता हूं तब भगवान विष्णु स्वयं अपने गरुड़ पर बैठ गए, और नारद भी उनके पीछे बैठ गया। भगवान विष्णु से आदेश मिलते ही गरुड़ ने उड़ना शुरू कर दिया और जिस दिशा में वे दिखाते थे, उसी दिशा में चले गए। भगवान विष्णु ने नारद जी के साथ कन्याकुब्ज में कई वनों, नदियों, पर्वतों, नगरों, छोटे-छोटे गांवों और जंगलों में घूम रहे जीवों को देखा।
भगवान विष्णु और नारद कन्याकुब्ज में एक बड़े सुंदर सरोवर के पास गए। दोनों ने गरुड़ से उतरकर सरोवर के पास चलने लगे। कुछ समय बाद भगवान विष्णु ने नारद को कहा कि वे तुम अभी सरोवर में जाकर स्नान करो । भगवान विष्णु ने कहा तो नारद अपनी वीणा उनके पास रखकर सरोवर में गए और स्नान करने लगे। नारद ने स्नान करते हुए उस सरोवर में कूदकर ऊपर उठे। सरोवर में डुबकी लगाकर उठते ही, नारद ने देखा कि उनका शरीर एक स्त्री का बन गया है। दूर खड़े भगवान विष्णु ने नारद को देखकर मुस्कुरा रहे थे, स्त्री बनने के बाद नारद की अपनी पूर्व स्मृति भी चली गई । तब भगवान विष्णु नारद की वीणा लेकर वहां से गरुड़पर बैठकर चले गए।
स्त्री बने नारद झील के किनारे बैठ गए और विचार लगे क्योकि उनकी याददाश्त जा चुकी थी। “मैं कौन हूँ, अब मुझे क्या करना चाहिए, कहाँ जाना चाहिए,” स्त्री रूपी नारद ने सोचा। इसी समय तालध्वज नाम का राजा अपनी सेना के साथ झील के तट पर आ पहुँचा। जब तालध्वज ने नारद को अत्यंत सुंदर और आकर्षक स्त्री के रूप में देखा तो पूछा, “देवी, आप कौन हैं, आपके पिता कौन हैं, आपके पति कौन हैं और आप यहां क्या कर रही हैं?” तालध्वज की बातें सुनकर नारद स्वरूप से बोलते हैं।: “मैं नहीं जानती कि मैं कौन हूँ कहाँ से आई हूँ, इस समय मेरा कोई रक्षक नहीं है।” तब तलध्वज ने कहा, “देवी, आप मेरे साथ मेरे महल में चलेंगे, मैं आप पर मोहित हो गया हूं और आपको चाहता हूं, ठीक वैसे ही जैसे मेरी पत्नी चाहती है।” तालध्वज की बातें सुनकर नारद भी स्त्री का रूप धारण करके उनके महल में जाने के लिए तैयार हो गये।
तालध्वज स्त्री रूप में नारद को अपने महल में ले गए और शुभ मुहूर्त में उनसे विवाह कर लिया। इसके बाद, तालध्वज और नारद दोनों महिला रूप में अलग-अलग स्थानों की यात्रा करते हैं और एक साथ समय बिताते हैं। तो 12 साल बाद नारद के गर्भ से स्त्री के रूप में एक पुत्र का जन्म हुआ। यह देखकर स्त्री रूपधारी नारद बहुत प्रसन्न हुए। अब उन्होंने अपना समय विशेष रूप से अपने बेटे के पालन-पोषण में लगाया। इस प्रकार नारद ने कई वर्षों में बारह पुत्रों को जन्म दिया। ये सभी पुत्र बड़े हो गए और नारद ने उन सभी का विवाह कर दिया। घर में पुत्रवधू को देखकर वे बहुत प्रसन्न हुए। इस समय तक नारद अपनी असली पहचान पूरी तरह भूल चुके थे। तो देवऋषि नारद, जो माया के प्रभाव में आकर सीख गए और खुद को भूल गए, उनके कई कई पौत्र और पुत्रियां भी हुए ।
स्त्री रूप नारद कभी-कभी अपने बड़े परिवार को देखकर बहुत प्रसन्न होते थे और जब उनमें से किसी को कष्ट होता था तो स्वयं भी कष्ट सहते थे। एक दिन तलध्वज राज्य में एक पड़ोसी राजा ने उसके राज्य पर आक्रमण कर दिया। तब नारद के पुत्र और पौत्र भी स्त्री का रूप धारण करके युद्ध करने गये। इस युद्ध में देवर्षि नारद के सभी पुत्र और पौत्र मारे गए। तब नारद स्वयं युद्धभूमि में गये और अपने पुत्रों के वियोग में विलाप करने लगे। राजा तलध्वज भी उनके साथ थे और वे भी बहुत दुखी थे। माया द्वारा धोखा खाई हुई स्त्री के रूप में नारद ने युद्ध के मैदान में इन पुत्रों और पौत्रों की मृत्यु पर शोक व्यक्त किया।
जब भगवान विष्णु ने स्त्री रूप में नारद को युद्ध भूमि में रोते हुए देखा, तो वे ब्राह्मण रूप में आते हैं और उन्हें सांत्वना देते हैं। देवी, तुम क्यों रो रही हो? इस संसार में हर कोई मरता है, इसलिए दुखी मत हो। इस संसार में कोई किसी का पुत्र नहीं, कोई किसी का पिता नहीं, कोई किसी की माता नहीं। ये सभी रिश्ते भ्रम हैं। आप दुःख दूर करके उसका अन्तिम संस्कार करें। ब्राह्मणरूपी विष्णुजी की बात सुनकर स्त्रीरूपधारी नारद और ताराध्वज ने मृतक का अंतिम संस्कार किया। तब विष्णुजी, जो ब्राह्मण के रूप में थे, ने कहा, “हे देवी, कृपया अब अपने तीर्थ पर जाएं और अपने पुत्रों और पौत्रों की आत्मा की शांति के लिए स्नान करें।” ऐसा कहकर भगवान विष्णु स्वयं आगे होकर स्त्रीरूपी नारद और तालध्वज को उनके संबंधियों के साथ पुनतीर्थ में ले जाते हैं ।
पुणतीर्थ में एक बड़ी झील थी। ब्राह्मण के रूप में विष्णुजी ने स्त्री रूप में नारद से कहा: “देवी, अब इस झील में स्नान करें और अपने बेटे और पोते-पोतियों की आत्मा की शांति के लिए प्रार्थना करें।” . तुम्हें पता नहीं कि तुम्हारे कितने जन्म हो चुके हैं। इन लाखों जन्मों में आपके लाखों पति, लाखों बेटे और बेटियाँ होंगी। आज तुम्हें हर किसी की याद नहीं इसलिए तुम्हें अपना दुःख त्याग कर अपना कर्तव्य निभाना चाहिए। ब्राह्मण रूपी विष्णु की बात मानकर नारद स्त्री के रूप में इस सरोवर में स्नान और पूजा करने जाते हैं। नारी का रूप धारण कर नारद इस झील में गोता लगाते हैं और जागने पर स्वयं को पुरुष के रूप में पाते हैं। उनकी याददाश्त धीरे-धीरे लौट रही है. झील से बाहर आकर नारद वहां भगवान विष्णु को देखते हैं और बहुत प्रसन्न होते हैं।
राजा तालध्वज अपनी पत्नी की जगह एक पुरुष को झील से बाहर आते हुए देखते हैं और भगवान विष्णु से पूछते हैं, हे प्रभु मेरी पत्नी कहां चली गई? विष्णुजी कहते हैं कि तालध्वज इस दुनिया में कोई किसी का नहीं है। जब वह स्त्री तुम्हें झील के पास मिली तो उसने झील के पास ही तुमसे नाता तोड़ लिया। इसलिए आप इसके बारे में भूल जाएं और भगवान पर ध्यान केंद्रित करें। भगवान विष्णु की बात मानकर तालध्वज राज्य छोड़कर जंगल में चले गए।
भगवान विष्णु मुस्कुराते हैं और पुरुष का रूप धारण करके झील से बाहर आये नारद से कहते हैं: नारद, अब तुमने मेरी माया देख ली है। तुमने देख लिया कि मेरी माया कितनी प्रबल है, अब मुझे विश्वास हो गया है कि तुम्हारे मन में माया को देखने की इच्छा पूरी हो गयी है। अब मैं वैकुंठ जा रहा हूं. तुम चाहो तो मेरे साथ वैकुण्ठ आ सकते हो या अपनी इच्छानुसार कहीं और जा सकते हो। नारद कहते हैं, “प्रभु, आपने मुझे माया के दर्शन कराए, इसलिए आपका धन्यवाद।” उस समय मैं ब्रह्मलोक जाना चाहता हूँ और आप वैकुण्ठ जाना चाहते हो। तब भगवान विष्णु वैकुण्ठ चले गये और नारद जी ब्रह्मलोक चले गये। इस प्रकार भगवान विष्णु ने नारद जी को स्त्री में बदल दिया ताकि वे माया को देख सकें।

How Lord Vishnu Explained the Influence of Maya to Sage Narada
Once upon a time, Sage Narad expressed his desire to have the darshan (sight) of Lord Vishnu. Following his wish, Sage Narad went to Vaikuntha, the abode of Lord Vishnu, and had the opportunity to witness the divine form of the Lord. Lord Vishnu held in his hands the conch shell (shankh), discus (chakra), mace (gada), and lotus (kamal), all of which appeared incredibly beautiful. At that moment, Lord Vishnu and his consort, Goddess Lakshmi, were enjoying moments of joy and leisure together. Seeing Sage Narad approaching, Goddess Lakshmi decided to leave the scene.
Observing Goddess Lakshmi’s departure, Sage Narad inquired from Lord Vishnu the reason behind her leaving upon seeing him. He mentioned that he was not a lowly person; all his senses were under control, and he never harbored ill feelings towards anyone. So why did Goddess Lakshmi leave upon his arrival? Lord Vishnu replied, explaining that even for great sages like Sanak, conquering the influence of Maya (illusion) is challenging. Maya can manipulate the human intellect and lead it astray. Thus, seeing Goddess Lakshmi depart, Narad asked the Lord about the number of other sages like him. Lord Vishnu explained that Maya is pervasive and challenging to overcome, even for enlightened beings. He highlighted that Maya perpetually keeps living beings entangled in delusion through desires like lust, anger, pride, attachment, jealousy, and greed.
Undeterred, Sage Narad asserted that he had conquered Maya and it had no influence over him. He proclaimed his adherence to righteousness and ethical conduct. In response, Lord Vishnu cautioned Narad not to boast about such achievements openly because Maya’s control is formidable, and it continuously ensnares beings in delusion. Acknowledging this truth, Goddess Lakshmi left to avoid being affected by the deceptive nature of Maya.
Narad, undeterred, expressed his earnest desire to witness the true nature of Maya. He requested Lord Vishnu to reveal the reality of Maya, assuring the Lord of his readiness to comprehend and find peace in understanding it. Lord Vishnu, after contemplating Narad’s plea, agreed to show him the reality of Maya.
In a divine demonstration, Lord Vishnu and Sage Narad soared through the skies on Garuda, witnessing various landscapes—forests, rivers, mountains, towns, villages, and the diverse life inhabiting them. Approaching a beautiful lake near Kanakubja, Lord Vishnu and Narad descended from Garuda and walked along its banks.
After some time, Lord Vishnu suggested that Narad take a dip in the lake. Narad, placing his veena aside, immersed himself in the water for a bath. To his surprise, as Narad emerged from the water, he found that his body had transformed into that of a woman. Witnessing this transformation, Lord Vishnu and Garuda stood at a distance, smiling. With the change in form, Narad lost his male identity, and the memories of his previous self faded away.
Amused, Lord Vishnu, holding Narad’s veena, took a seat on Garuda, and they departed from the scene. Thus, the sage Narad, now in a female form, accompanied Lord Vishnu on their celestial journey, gaining a unique perspective on the multifaceted nature of existence. Once upon a time, Narad, in the form of a woman, sat on the shores of Narad Lake and pondered deeply because he had lost his memory. “Who am I? What should I do now? Where should I go?” thought Narad in the form of a woman. At this moment, King Taladhvaj arrived at the lake shores with his army. When Taladhvaj saw Narad in the enchanting form of a woman, he asked, “Goddess, who are you? Who is your father? Who is your husband, and what are you doing here?” Narad, in the form of a woman, replied, “I don’t know who I am, where I came from, and at this moment, I have no protector.”
Taladhvaj then said, “Goddess, come with me to my palace. I am enchanted by you and desire you, just as my wife desires me.” Hearing Taladhvaj’s words, Narad, in the form of a woman, also agreed to go to his palace.
Taladhvaj married Narad in the form of a woman in his palace at an auspicious moment. After the marriage, Taladhvaj and Narad, both in female forms, traveled to different places and spent time together. After 12 years, Narad, in the form of a woman, gave birth to a son. Seeing this, Narad, in the form of a woman, was pleased. Now, Narad dedicated himself to the care of his son. In this way, over the years, Narad gave birth to twelve sons. All these sons grew up, and Narad arranged marriages for all of them. Narad was very happy to see his daughters-in-law. By this time, Narad had completely forgotten his true identity.
One day, a neighboring king attacked Taladhvaj’s kingdom. Narad’s sons and daughters, in the form of women, went to fight in the war. Unfortunately, all of Narad’s sons and daughters were killed in the battle. Narad, in the form of a woman, went to the battlefield and lamented the loss of his children. King Taladhvaj, who was also present, was deeply saddened. In the grief of losing his children, Narad, who had forgotten his true identity due to the influence of Maya, expressed his sorrow.
When Lord Vishnu saw Narad, in the form of a woman, crying on the battlefield, he appeared in the form of a Brahmin and consoled him. “Goddess, why are you crying? Everyone dies in this world, so do not be distressed. In this world, no one is anyone’s son, no one is anyone’s father, and no one is anyone’s mother. All these relationships are illusions. Perform the last rites for your departed children and relieve their souls from sorrow,” said Lord Vishnu in the form of a Brahmin.
Accepting Lord Vishnu’s words, Narad, in the form of a woman, and Taladhvaj performed the last rites for their children. Lord Vishnu, in the form of a Brahmin, then said, “Goddess, please go to your pilgrimage site, take a bath, and pray for the peace of your sons and grandsons’ souls.” Saying this, Lord Vishnu, as a Brahmin, took Narad and Taladhvaj along with their relatives to a holy pilgrimage site.
At the pilgrimage site, there was a large lake. Lord Vishnu, in the form of a Brahmin, said to Narad in the form of a woman, “Goddess, now take a bath in this lake and pray for the peace of your sons and grandsons’ souls.” Narad, in the form of a woman, replied, “I do not know how many births I have had. In these countless births, you have had millions of husbands, millions of sons, and millions of daughters. Today, you may not remember everyone, so let go of your sorrow and focus on your duty.” Accepting the words of Lord Vishnu in the form of a Brahmin, Narad, in the form of a woman, bathed and worshipped in the lake. While assuming the form of a woman, Narad submerged himself in the lake and, upon awakening, found himself in the form of a man. His memory was gradually returning. Coming out of the lake, Narad saw Lord Vishnu and was very pleased.
King Taladhvaj, seeing a man instead of his wife coming out of the lake, asked Lord Vishnu about his wife’s whereabouts. Lord Vishnu replied, “Taladhvaj, there is no one in this world. When she found a woman near the lake, she severed her ties with you. Forget about her and focus on worshiping the Lord.” Taladhvaj, believing Lord Vishnu’s words, left his kingdom and went to the forest.
Lord Vishnu smiled and, taking on the form of a man, came out of the lake. He said to Narad, “Narad, you have now witnessed my Maya. You have seen how powerful my Maya is. Now, I am convinced that you desire to see Maya in your mind. I am going to Vaikuntha. You can come with me or go wherever you wish.” Narad said, “Lord, you have shown me your Maya; I am grateful for that.” At that moment, I want to go to Brahma’s abode, and you want to go to Vaikuntha. Then Lord Vishnu went to Vaikuntha, and Narad went to Brahma’s abode. In this way, Lord Vishnu transformed Narad into a woman so that he could witness Maya.
